Behind every screen is a team of people who care deeply about how it looks and works. Continuing our "Meet the Makers" series, we're sitting down this month with Ben McNichol, one of ScreenCloud's Account Executives. If you've stopped by a ScreenCloud booth at an event lately, there's a decent chance you've already met about why your comms aren't landing the way they should.

The part of the job worth being proud of

Every role at ScreenCloud shapes the customer experience in a different way. For Ben, the proudest moments happen face to face.

"Working the booth at events and conferences — talking to as many people as possible about what they're actually dealing with day to day. The same problems keep coming up: information moving too slowly, too many disconnected tools, leadership messages that never quite reach the frontline."

That's where the job gets good.

"Watching it click for them, that's the part I'm proudest of. A five-minute conversation on a stand can be the start of fixing something that's frustrated a business for years."

What's exciting about the next 12 months

One word: AI.

"ScreenCloud is already leaning into it properly, not just talking about it from cutting out everyday admin to helping teams work faster and sharper. I really enjoy being part of a company that's always thinking ahead rather than reacting, and it's exciting to be somewhere actually using AI rather than adding it as a buzzword.

"Over the next 12 months, I think we'll get to show that off properly in how fast we can move, and in the quality of what we're able to put in front of customers."

The hidden talent

Everyone has one surprising thing. Ben's is more surprising than most.

"I know the flag of every country in the world. Learned them all out of sheer boredom during lockdown, and now it's just stuck."

All 195 of them? "All 195."

"It's a genuinely useless skill in day-to-day life, but I live in hope it'll come up in a pub quiz one day. Not the obvious ones like the US, Denmark, or Brazil though I want an Equatorial Guinea or Micronesia moment. So far, nothing. I'll keep waiting."

Advice for day one at ScreenCloud

"Don't be afraid to ask questions, all the time. People genuinely want to help here. It doesn't matter which office you're in, someone somewhere is always happy to jump on a call or answer a quick message.

"That culture is one of the best things about ScreenCloud, and it's worth using from day one rather than trying to figure everything out on your own."
